Startech Global Beyond Cost, Beyond Outsourcing

Symfony is a full featured web application framework that follows the model-view-controller paradigm.  Symfony requires PHP5 but is very easily installed via PEAR or added directly into the web application.  Startech utilizes Symfony for larger innovative projects that cannot be addressed by traditional CMS's such as Drupal or Joomla.  Symfony supports internationalization, user management and a plug-in architecture for further customization.  It provides a full featured templating engine with built-in javascript libraries such as JQuery.  The Object Relational Model provides quick and powerful database abstraction and removes duplicated effort between frontend and backend applications.  Its routing system provides quick SEO optimization and integration with email and mobile devices.  Symfony's main drawback is its significant upgrade costs between 1.0 and 1.1 when the ORM layer was switched from Propel to PDO based Doctrine.  The open source team has acknowledged this by supporting 1.0 through 2010.
