jQuery
jQuery is a light-weight Ajax/JavaScript library. The minified version of the library is under 60KB and compares favorably against enterprise-backed ones like YUI. For simple projects where Ajax is used to enhance the website on a per-page basis, jQuery is the library of choice for Startech. We have also successfully customized and deployed many of the jQuery open source plugins available out there for our clients. The main drawback, which applies to all open source technologies to a degree, is that they are community-supported and only as strong as the individuals behind them. As such, for projects where Ajax forms the backbone of the website/web application, we tend to favor enterprise-backed libraries like YUI for the richer feature set and code stability.
