Business Process Execution Language is an XML based standard that orchestrates web service workflows. The standard - sometimes called Web Services Business Process Execution Language, WSBPEL or previously BPEL4WS - is governed by an OASIS committee with backing from BEA Systems, IBM, Microsoft, SAP, Siebel Systems and others. BPEL defines web services interfaces through WSDL and publishes them via UDDI. Server side business logic utilizes middleware solutions like JBoss and ASP.net to present users with web based interface to the workflows.
