U.S. Leadership in Green Technologies will be Powered by Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses.
According to a TIME.com report, East Asia is gaining the lead against the U.S. in developing marketable green technologies—which means the U.S. may likely import more green technologies than export them. The article also commented on the tie-up of Japanese and South Korean high-tech capabilities with China’s manufacturing capabilities.
This article was interesting to me because of Startech Global’s leadership role in this specific subject matter. After analyzing market data and trends, Startech invested in development of green technologies. Recently, Startech has developed and patented various software and hardware used in helping the environment while saving client’s money. As this trend continues, we hope to grow this aspect of our business.
Below is just a partial list of ‘Wanted Green Technologies’ that are receiving corporate attention and grant fundings:
1) Smart grids
2) High-tech batteries and storage
3) Technologies to make data centers greener
4) Software applications that can help households better manage their energy use
5) More energy efficient versions of highly in-demand and used products: cars, airconditioners, industrial and office equipments, and devices and technologies used at home, and etc.
6) Devices that will make old technologies more cost efficient so there will be less need to buy and replace
7) Devices that can harness energy from its surroundings
U.S. entrepreneurs must start producing innovative ideas and organizing their resources to create commercially viable green tech products. (Solar energy adoption has been slow and limited due to its prohibitive costs.)
Next, to augment their resources and accelerate development, they can partner with a U.S.-based product development outsourcing company with offshore China resources. This partnership will enable them to access China’s extensive R&D and manufacturing capabilities; and acquire fresh product development ideas and methods to strengthen their own internal resource teams.
Working through a U.S. based outsourcing product development company will also ensure the protection of their intellectual property rights on the green technologies to be developed.
But why bring China outsourcing into it? The answer is necessity. China can offer low-cost R&D and manufacturing capabilities to help U.S. entrepreneurs and companies stay globally competitive.
Remember other countries are producing green tech for domestic use and export (Time.com even defined greentech as the next space race). Moreover, venture capitalists are reviewing the feasibility of being able to bring the product to market at cost-competitive prices.
But why is there urgency to act now during the slowdown in the economy? Lower costs give start-up businesses a good leverage to building their businesses today. There are also plenty of business opportunities in green products since companies are more motivated to cut down cost.
In addition, many established businesses recognize the need of ‘re-branding their companies and their products’ to have higher degree of environmental compliance, as the green or eco label is becoming a significant delineator of millions of products in the market.
So if you have an innovative green product idea you strongly believe in, Startech Global has the product engineering capability and China R&D resources to help you develop and deliver your product to the market faster.
